Zeus' life is spared to play another day!

On Tuesday 7th September Dr Mugford attended Colchester Magistrates Court to give evidence in defence of a Rottweiler called Zeus who had bitten someone.  Zeus.JPGDr Mugford carried out a behavioural assessment of Zeus in August, during which he found Zeus to be a friendly, well trained dog who is much loved by his owner.  Dr Mugford also concluded that the circumstances in which the person was bitten were exceptional and Zeus was surprised by the sudden appearance of the victim. Although Dr Mugford did not consider Zeus to be a "dangerous" dog, his recommendation to the court was that Zeus be muzzled in pubic places to ensure that this situation could never re-occur.

Zeus' owner plead guilty to the charge that Zeus was dangerously out of control and with the benefit of Dr Mugford's report, the Colchester Magistrates ordered that Zeus need not be destroyed but must be muzzled and on lead when in public places.
