Last week (25th March) Dr Roger Mugford attended the Global Pet Expo.
Bristol, CT (March 25, 2010) – Dr. Roger Mugford, internationally renowned Animal Psychologist and CEO of The Company of Animals, will be available at Booth 2989 to meet the media at the Global Pet Expo. Dr. Mugford is committed to helping people with problem pets. He will be happy to be interviewed on any training issue, as well as explain his products and their effect on training.
In the 27 years since the inception of Dr. Mugford’s Animal Behaviour Centre, more than 50,000 pets (including dogs, cats, parrots, horses and even ferrets) have passed through its doors, benefiting from his and his colleagues experience and expertise.
In his “spare time,” Dr. Mugford has authored two popular books, Dr. Mugford’s Casebook and Dog Training the Mugford Way: Never say NO! He is also widely published in veterinary and scientific journals and is much in demand on radio and television.
Dr. Mugford has been responsible for the invention and development of various accessories designed to restrain or in other ways improve the behavior of dogs. Most notable of these are the HALTI headcollar and the HALTI harness. The Company of Animals produces these items and hundreds of other training accessories and toys designed to help socialize pets and correct unwanted behavior. The products are widely available through the pet trade and other outlets.
Casting his net wide in recent years, Dr. Mugford has also become a spokesman for animal rights in general, and is actively involved with such causes as The Born Free Foundation (Zoocheck), Animals Asia, Captive Animals Protection Society, and humane societies around the world. He is a patron of Dogs for the Disabled, a trustee of Cancer and Bio-Detection Dogs and was awarded The Blue Cross Welfare Award in 2005. His major current preoccupation is the defense of dogs facing unjust treatment before the law, whether the animals live with owners in palaces or in poverty.
A strong advocate of the psychological benefits that animals bring to people, Dr. Mugford believes that people who love animals are more sociable. “Pets help us cope with stress, raise our self-esteem, encourage healthy exercise and make us laugh,” he says. “It takes so little to make a dog happy.”
